JUNETEENTH
A day of recognition, restoration, and celebration!
Family and friends were able to come together in love and unity while having fun participating in a family-friendly game of flag football. There was food, music, and plenty of entertainment in celebration of Juneteenth! Participants had the chance to win prizes and trophies!
Flag Football Winners
Congrats to our winning team in the adult division, the Blazers! The players consisted of D'Angelo (team captain) Rarg, BJ, Jeffery and Joe. Team captain was awarded a custom trophy along with a gift card and a goodie bag. All other players received gift cards and goodie bags.
The opponent teams were the Black Panther's (Mario, Alvin, Marquis, Jaylon, Sam and Bear) and Hell Boys (Calvin, Tyrell, Zarion, Rico and Turk). Everyone displayed great sportsmanship!
Poet
A huge thank you to Mario Sapp Jr. for his amazing poem, "Survival's Guilt". His word's told the story of how far Black Americans have come beginning with our ancestors and leading up to the influential Black Americans who stepped up to make a difference such as Harriet Tubman, Rosa Parks, Malcolm X, Martin Luther King and more.
